Sunny Day Dress - Vintage Delft

It took me a long time to build up the courage to cut into the spectacular tablecloth that this once was. There were a few stains and damage that I needed to cut around, and so I created The Sunny Day Dress for this particular fabric! The embroidery is all hand done, it is a luxurious linen of ample weight, and I imagine it was a well loved textile for quite some time. Since I was limited with fabric scraps, I made the ribbon and pockets with different hues of linen to add to the variety of blues. This is a very special dress that twirls magnificently with its scalloped hemline. You will justly receive the most lovely compliments wherever you wear it.

The Sunny Day Dress is my first completely self-made pattern. It is designed to; fit many different bodies, have adjustable neckline/shoulder straps to alter where it sits, be roomy and comfortable to wear, and of course it has pockets! Strap is continuous and runs through front and back neck channels. Adjust the width by gathering the fabric or pulling it flat out. Tie a knot and bow in front, back, or on top of shoulder. Remove the strap for laundering (hand wash and hang dry), use a safety pin to thread the strap ribbon back through the channels.

Flat measurements: body length (neck/strap seam to bottom hem) 32”, chest/width (armpit to armpit) 23”. Check your chest measurements, can accommodate bust width of 46”.

Upcycling vintage/secondhand textiles keeps beautiful fabrics out of landfill. Some wear and tear, discolorations, or other small imperfections may be expected and add a little to the history of the piece. Photos were taken in different lighting to show textures and better represent coloration.
